True Rights International Foundation ("we," "us," "our," or the "Organization") relies on the generosity of donors to support our mission and programs. This policy explains how donations are processed and the circumstances under which a refund may be requested or granted.
As TRIF does not sell physical or digital products, this policy addresses donation refunds rather than product returns. If TRIF ever sells merchandise or event tickets, a separate product return policy will be added.
Section 1
General Policy
All donations made to TRIF through our Site, payment partners, or other channels are voluntary contributions and are, as a general rule, non-refundable. This is because donations are typically allocated to programs and operations promptly upon receipt.
Section 2
Circumstances for Refund Consideration
We understand that mistakes can happen. We will consider refund requests in the following circumstances:
- Duplicate donations — If you accidentally made the same donation more than once within a short period (typically within 24–48 hours).
- Incorrect amount — If you entered an amount significantly different from what you intended to donate due to a technical or input error.
- Unauthorized transactions — If a donation was made using your payment method without your authorization (subject to verification).
- Technical errors — If a verified system or payment-gateway error resulted in an incorrect or failed-but-charged transaction.
Section 3
How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please contact us within 7 days of the donation date at info@truerights.org, including:
- Your full name and contact information
- The date and amount of the donation
- The payment method used (e.g., card, UPI, bank transfer)
- A transaction ID or receipt number, if available
- A brief explanation of the reason for your request
Section 4
Review and Processing
- All refund requests will be reviewed by our finance team and verified against transaction records.
- Approved refunds will be processed within 15–30 business days from the date of approval.
- Refunds will generally be made to the original payment method used for the donation.
- Processing times may vary depending on your bank or payment provider, and TRIF is not responsible for delays caused by third-party financial institutions.
Section 5
Non-Refundable Situations
Refunds will generally not be issued where:
- The request is made more than 7 days after the donation
- The donation has already been disbursed toward a program, project, or beneficiary
- The donor changes their mind after voluntarily completing the donation without an error having occurred
- A tax receipt/certificate has already been issued and claimed for the donation (subject to applicable tax law)
Section 6
Recurring Donations
If you have set up a recurring (monthly/annual) donation, you may cancel future payments at any time by contacting us at info@truerights.org or through your account/payment portal, where applicable. Cancellation will take effect for the next billing cycle; already-processed payments are subject to the refund terms above.
Section 7
Tax Receipts and Refunds
If a refund is issued for a donation for which a tax-exemption receipt (e.g., under Section 80G) was already provided, the donor agrees to void or return the receipt, as applicable, and not claim a tax deduction for the refunded amount. TRIF will issue a revised receipt or notify relevant authorities where required by law.
Section 8
Sponsorships, Event Fees, and In-Kind Donations
- Event/program fees — Refunds for paid events, workshops, or program fees are subject to the specific terms communicated at the time of registration.
- In-kind donations — Non-monetary (in-kind) donations, such as goods or services, are non-refundable once received, except where required by law.
Section 9
Changes to This Policy
TRIF reserves the right to update this Donation & Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
